In a couple of weeks, Salt Spring will host Hands Across the Water—a unique weekend celebrating connection, collaboration, and friendship across the border.

The event kicks off with a symbolic moment: Canadian and U.S. vessels will meet mid-channel near Bedwell Harbour, raft up at the international border, and exchange a handshake of unity while the media looks on. From there, the flotilla will travel together into Ganges Harbour, where our community will warmly welcome our guests for a weekend of festivities.

To make this historic event a success, we need community volunteers for:

• Tent, table, and chair setup and takedown

• Privacy fencing setup and removal

• Greeting boats as they arrive in Ganges

• Bartending, bussing, and ticket sales at events

• Assisting with the car show and VIP gathering

• Sunday cleanup after the Pancake Breakfast

Volunteer Shifts:

Whether you can give a few hours or a full day, your time will help make this cross-border celebration truly special.

Here's a run down of the times we need people: 

• Friday, Sept 19: Noon – 6 PM

• Saturday, Sept 20: Evening (exact times TBD)

• Sunday, Sept 21: Take-down, Noon – 2 PM
